Five flats were created on Sinclair Road between two properties.
This, the penthouse duplex was purchased as a tired ex-rental flat. It was extended at roof level and a ground breaking permission gained for a roof terrace at fourth floor level.
The property was stripped back to brick in order to install the new steel structure. Inherent structural issues were remedied, then the flat was reconstructed as a large duplex three bedroom flat.
An electric sliding roof provided access to the roof, as well as flooding the hall with light and revealing views of the sky. The whole construction was lifted onto the roof by crane and was invisible from the street.
A palette of natural materials and subtle colours create a sense of calm, and the chalky textures contrast well to highlight art and highlight a collection of stone artefacts.
Internally we have designed and made a pair of Bath stone fireplaces, provided carefully designed built in joinery concealing pocket doors behind. The lighting was specifically chosen to display the collection of art, as well as to set the scene.
